Ĉe la Birdejo

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

On Saturday, Dean and I went to the Omaha Zoo. His sister called and asked if he wanted to go, because they were taking the kids. I don’t really understand the logic there since she lives 90 minutes closer to the zoo, but whatever. I got a really good picture of a rhino. I also had a really funny moment. When we got there, they were supposed to be somewhere near the bird exhibit. So I thought that we’d look for a sign that told us where the bird exhibit was. Unfortunately, I could not think of the name of the place where birds get kept in a zoo in English. I seriously tried, too. All I could come up with was the Esperanto equivalant, “birdejo.” It’s always weird when one can’t come up with the correct word in one’s native language, but that it comes in another language. Eventually, I figured it out.

Last night, I discovered that Overclocked Remix released a new Final Fantasy VII album. I’ve been listening to it today, and it’s pretty good. It’s a four disc album, and I’ve been busy today so I haven’t got a chance to listen to the whole thing. It’s quite a bold album in my opinion. Forty-two people worked on it, which is impressive. There’s even some vocals spread throughout, which isn’t common with remixes. It’s fun to hear stuff reinterpreted like this album, though. There’s a lot of different musical style in it, and it puts a smile on my face every time I hear a new track and recognize the melody. One thing I hate, though, is the way that Overclocked Remix tags their albums. They put the album URL in the album tag. For one-off remixes, this makes perfect sense. When it’s an album, it’s just annoying. Still, leaving it that way keeps it properly tagged, which helps with things like the Last.fm, which is how I discovered this release.

I have to work lots this week. Well, an extra four hours at the store. It’s three days of working both jobs in a row, and that’s not what I’m all about. Though it is inventory time, so it won’t be that much work tonight. Mostly tonight I’ll just deal with small stuff and close all of the claims. Still, I want it to be Thursday so that I can have the night off. Smallville starts again on Thursday, so Dean will watch that. I think I’ll go home after work and cook myself dinner. I don’t get to do that much because I hate dishes and I don’t have people over to eat my cooking, because I don’t make elaborate things. I’m thinking beans and rice, but I have no idea what else to put in it to make it yummy. Must search for simple recipies.

I just saw Megan at the store on my way out of work. That’s a warm fuzzy feeling. Megan is one of those people that, through no specific action of her own, has been a very wonderful influence in my life. I can’t really name why, but she just is. It’s nice to know that she’s back around again, even though we never hung out outside of work in the first place. Still, I’m all happy to have seen her again.
