Interruptions

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

I can’t get anything done today. It’s phone call, after issue, after e-mail, after rush job.

I’m starting to stress, because I can’t get my wizards to work correctly. I want random access to steps after they are completed. Problem is that random access means that I should be able to access the previously entered data. What if the step is a looped step? Then it’s only data from a specific part of an array of data. How do I make sure that the entire series of steps runs before returning to the calling step? I have ideas, but no time to try and implement them due to interruptions.

Just as I’ve written this, I’ve had to stop and research a failed job and received some new work that needs to be completed by Friday as well. How will I ever get anything done?

Rockboxin’

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Okay, I did what most would consider really dumb today. I bought myself an iPod, even though I don’t have any music in MP3 format on my computer. Instead, I installed Rockbox on my iPod so that I can play my Ogg Vorbis music files. There aren’t players on the market for Ogg Vorbis that have decent hard drive space, if you ask me. So now, essentially, what I’ve done is setup an Ogg Vorbis player using Apple hardware.

I’m actually pretty impressed with Rockbox. The theming is pretty neat, and there’s a ton of plugins that come loaded by default. The one that I didn’t get loaded on there was the Gameboy emulator. That could be neat. The installation of the firmware was really easy, too. I unzipped two files onto the device and ran a program where I typed y to install the bootloader. That was it!
