In the Name of the Moon

My project for today is to copy one processing system such that the new copy will run essentially the same, with some different data layouts and lookups. However, the end result will end up the same. This seems to be the best solution to get the problem solved in a potentially short time period. Since I’m working with scripts in Query Analyzer that could potentially have adverse effects on the original tables, I’ve come up with a solution to protect myself from accidentally executing these jobs. At the top of a script I put a simple SQL statement.

USE PowerOfLove

Now, if I’m in the wrong window and accidentally hit F5, thinking I’m going to run something different, I will be protected by the Power of Love. The server will first try to open the database PowerOfLove, which will always fail. I figured that if I get bored, I will protect myself with the Justice League, Sailor Moon, or something equally cool.

By “cool,” I mean “dorky.”
