Monday, August 29th, 2005We started a new timekeeping system at work today. It’s interesting. Basically, we have to sign in and out of each job as we switch back and forth. All of the strange things that my previous statement would seem to flag are for the most part taken care of, including concurrent jobs and adding time later. Since I’m salaried, the time is only used for billing purposes and for calculating vacation, so in my book whatever goes.
I spent a lot of time today trying to figure out a JavaScript nuance for Internet Explorer. What I’ve come to find is that Internet Explorer will always assert that an object’s value is not an empty string, regardless of the actual value. It’s strange.
I talked with Ronda about the new idea for pants that I’ve wanted to do for a while now. The idea is to take the Dickies that I’ve ruined with paint and insulation glue and to coat them with various patches of fabric to make some seriously crazy pants. Ronda will be able to help me find thing that look like good fabric to use and also help make sure that I make these pants to survive a trip through the washing machine.
I was thinking on Friday that the monologue from the movie One Hour Photo regarding photos being proof of existence as being fairly relevant to blogs. Then on Saturday, I was playing Dance Dance Revolution and thought, “Wouldn’t it be cool if I could upload my dance data to my blog?” In an instant and entirely new perspective of how my life was lived would be available. One could tell how well I danced on what days in history and surmise things like my physical condition or how good I may have gotten at the game. Same thing for any other game: a history file would show more accurately how my time on the planet was spent (with regards to playing games). Really, the idea could be extended to any history-monitoring data to show further proof of existence. That is the wierd sidebar in my brain today.
