What’s Up

So the last week, the other programmer helping me with our new client is gone. He was busy the previous week, anyway, so I did most of the development for the previous week. Unfortunately, with him gone, I’m supposed to look after his stuff. This means that if a critical error is found in one of his systems, I fix it. It also means that if certain updates from one of his clients comes in, I have to implement it. The latter hasn’t happened, but the former has.

The person that I work on my production client with has been out the last day-and-a-half. As a result, I’m having to do all of that production work. Well, the majority. He’s been checking from home and it’s been really helpful, but he simply can’t print and scan documents from home. Since this is a print-and-scan heavy time, I’ve spent a lot of time with that. Still, he’s done more than I could have possibly expected. I mean, he’s using vacation time, for God’s sake.

Now, there are issues with the systems that I am supposed to be the contact for as well as new things to implement for yet other clients. It’s shaping up to be very crazy around here this week. I’m planning on staying late tonight to take care of some of my backlog, but I won’t get everything done at all.

As a matter of fact, the new client that I’ve been working with hasn’t had any work done since Tuesday. They go live, like, real soon. As much as I knew that I’d be busy at the end of May and beginning of June, there wasn’t really much else that I could have done. Without requirements, it’s hard to get ahead.

I wish I had exciting stories of what’s gone on in my life lately, but there’s not really a whole lot. I got some more Neon Genesis Evangelion. I watched the commentary on it. The commentary was hilarious. It was basically a bunch of girl talk, which two voice actors gushing over the guy that played Kaji in the English version. Funny, that.
