Metadata Mania!

I was working on applying for jobs. Beth got me sidetracked with website things, though. The comments form is no longer displayed twice, thank God. There was a hidden include statement on the main page’s code. I also changed the archives to have RDF and RSS available for the month that is being displayed.

I removed the skins option, because I’m not going to maintain some of the pages that some skins link to anymore. There is another way to deal with skins, using pure CSS, but that will be a lot of work. So, from now on, everyone has to look at the same design. It’s sad, but I’m just not dealing with it anymore.

Resulting from that, I did make the blogs that I am reading available on the front page in OPML format. Web browsers can’t display this format natively, but news readers can import it. A blogroll would be a neat thing to do with this, but it can wait.

Discounting the changes to the XHTML itself, the theme for all of the updates was to make more metadata available. I find myself using my web browser less and less lately, because of metadata. I read all of my news using Straw, chat with Gaim and XChat, and use Thunderbird as my mailer. The more of this magical metadata, the better.
