The Geek Gene

Today was a good day. I slept in way too late. Oops. When I got up, I went outside and worked on fixing up the paint on the house. It was hot as hell outside today. Being up on the two-story metal ladder just let the heat bounce right back at me too. I got a decent portion done today. It wasn’t as much as I should have, but still a decent portion.

Afterwards, we were supposed to go to Hu Hot for yumy Mongolian food, but Dean was painting his office, so I called Mandy and we went over to Josh’s and watched Super Troopers. That’s one funny movie. There was also much discussion of “the box.” Surprisingly, some people over there didn’t know what it meant. I was enlightened and explained.

I hung out with Mandy last night, too. She had left me a message that I got after work sounding like she needed to talk. She almost sounded disturbed when she was leaving it. I called, and we talked for twenty minutes as I drove home. Nearing Polk City, I asked her if she wanted to go to Perkins, so we did. We had a good discussion basically boiling down to her needing to be her own person. There was also much discussion of geek culture and how, somehow, amazingly, our group seemed to generally love the things that we introduced to each other, yet so many other people outside of the group didn’t necessarily like that same stuff.
