Now Listening to: Best I Ever Had
Vertical Horizon

It’s snowy. It’s actually bad enough that both of my meetings this evening were cancelled, so I didn’t have to drive to the store, which was nice. I’m staying at Beth’s tonight with Kate. I’m known as Roomate Number Six.

I had grand plans to get my flu vaccine this afternoon before class. I left early and went to Thielen Student Health Center. When I got to the door, I saw a sign stating that I would need my ISU card in order to receive the vaccine. I checked my coat pocket, as I always do when I realize that I’ll need something from my wallet. Unfortunately, my wallet wasn’t there so I couldn’t get my flu vaccine. More importantly, I wasn’t planning on leaving Ames and I had no money plus class in thirty minutes.

I stopped by my dad’s office to borrow five bucks, but he didn’t have any money. However, he did have some flu vaccine in his office, so I ended up at least getting vaccinated. Beth loaned me $20 and let me stay the night, so things will work out okay.

My presentation went well on Monday, even though it was two days early. The professor asked me if that would be a problem at the lab session. Of course, by this point it wouldn’t matter anyway. I’d already done all of the work for the presentation Sunday night, which was frustrating at the time, but not really all that much work. Things went okay, and I guess it was better that he asked me than pretended to not notice what he had done.

I’ve worked on my design document some tonight. I’m not up to eight pages and I’m missing a lot of descriptions of basic objects. I think that I’ll have at least four pages in object descriptions. Then there’s the diagram of interactions plus all of the formatting. I’m kind of worried that things aren’t quite what they should be, but I have only worked on one design document in my life. That’s definately an area that the department of computer science could improve on teaching its students. Our software engineering class simply sucks, and everyone knows it. Why doesn’t it get fixed?

The Christmas party this weekend was pretty fun. I got lots of cool gifts. I felt bad, because I didn’t have any gifts for anyone. With all of the work for the poker project, I didn’t take time to shop. Furthermore, the party was a year earlier than in previous years. It didn’t really click when Beth told me about it originally, then I realized way, way too late to get anything done about it. I went Christmas shopping for people last night, and I think I know what I’m going to get for everyone except for Angie, who made me a really cute Christmas tree ornament with a chocobo and a moogle on it.

Waiting

Presentations are going on for the projects now. I fixed my most noticable bug. I think that everything else is taken care of normally. I’m a bit nervous for the presentaiton, though. I guess it’s because I’ve worked for so long on the same thing and I just really want to do well. I have a pretty solid product, but, as is common with demonstrations, if something can go wrong, it will. I’m starved, too.
