The College Adventure, Episode IX: Michael Skinner Returns

The college adventure started again today. Thus far, I have been greeted by the Evil Michael Skinner twice on campus today. He is enrolled in at least two of my classes this semester. I fear for my sanity. This guy, while extremely intelligent, has a tendency to monopolize professor time and ask questions about things that you’d usually rather not talk to him about. Somehow I will have to learn to see the good side in him, because it looks like I’ll be seeing him a lot this semester.

My professor for theory of computing insists that we do not call him Dr. Lutz, but Jack. That was the first thing that he said to us. He seems really nice and like he is enthusiastic about the material he’s about to teach. A good quote from today’s introductory lecture was that, “teaching is really great profession. I’d highly reccomend it!” The only odd thing was when the room went a bit dark as he discussed cheating. He told us that he hates to talk about cheating. He started his rant; the room went dark; he threatened to ruin anyone’s life he found cheating.

My statistics professor seems really nice too. She should prove to be really good. I take it that Heike is possibly competing for the title of LaTeX Master with Markus Lumpe, who, in turn, will teach my next class.

I’m very excited for my next class. It’s a class about .NET with Markus. Personally, I think that Markus is a really good teacher. I know that Beth could certainly protest this statement, but I felt like I learned from the homeworks in programming languages. It will be neat to have another less abstract course with him this semester.

I’ve seen a lot of people I know today too. The list briefly consists of: Beth, Alan, Bobby, Luke, John, Evil Michael Skinner, Tim, Bess, Jenn, Elizabeth, Omar, Basil’s brother, Zaid, Kevin, J.R., and some physics war buddies. Thankfully, I did not talk to all of them.

The college adventure continues…
