Doubleweek

Thursday, July 17th, 2003

This week feels like it has been the longest week of my life. It’s really felt like it has flown by, but it feels like about two weeks have passed by in the place of one quick one.

I’m starting to get frustrated in English. I feel like I’m learning a whole lot of stuff, but I feel like I have nothing to actually show for it. It’d be nice to actually do well on an assignment. I feel like the entire class moves at a decent pace, but that there aren’t enough examples of what a finished document should look like or maybe not enough practice trying to create portions of finished documents. She’s getting better at that, though. I noticed that we actually got to do some small examples today. It should help.

Youth Alliance has dominated my time the last few days (if not the last month). I had a meeting on Tuesday and another on Wednesday. I have been reading volunteer packets over and over trying to make them perfect. Things are actually starting to come together. I think that after this next month the ball will be rolling such that enormous changes can start to take place within the organization. I’m also hoping that within the next month all of my files will be cleaned up a lot. The goal is to actually have a process in place for records.

I have an exam in algorithms tomorrow. I’m not sure what to think. I’m going to study for probably most of the evening, so I’m hoping to do fine. Still, I guess I can’t predict the exam itself.

I must nap, for this week has been a difficult one.

Now Listening to: Anthem Part Two
Blink 182

It’s been an interesting week. I don’t know where the time went, but I certainly know that it went.

I spent all day Thursday getting an event management system together for the Youth Alliance web site. It’s really cool. Collectively, it will fit into a component-based content management system for which I will write all of the parts one at a time so that there will be functionality from the start. I’m very excited for it. So far it’s 413 lines of PHP, which is just for the events bit. I like the architecture thus far.

I saw Pirates of the Carribean on Friday. It was a pretty good movie, and not just because Orlando Bloom was in it. He needs to be blond because he’s hotter that way. However, Johnny Depp was really good in that movie. His Captain Sparrow was absolutely wonderful.

Sunday was a totally hellish day at work. Nothing went right at all. I was very stressed and I’m glad to have it over. I spent a long time talking to Jessie at Beth’s place when picking up her homework since her aunt died. Jessie’s greatest statement of the conversaion was that, “The politics of Capri Sun are definately confusing,” in reference to the drinking of others’ juice boxes.

My cat, Donald, also died Sunday afternoon while I was at work. 1989-2003. I would like to get a picture of the grave they planted for him, because it has some flowers on it (which have wilted already). Rest in peace, Donald.

Today I have a meeting for Youth Alliance as well as tomorrow night. I hope that all goes well. Friday I have an exam, so I’d best have things go well or I wasted time that I could have spend studying.
