Physics Porn
Last night we went out for Beth’s birthday. Beth received a very interesting assortment of gifts from all of her friends. There was the Kama Sutra, from Jessie and Angie; Sunshine Bear, from me; a safari Hello Kitty, from Shane; and a Strawberry Shortcake necklace (for little girls), bottle of alcohol, and gay porn from Kate. Yes, I think that the relationship between assortment of gifts says something about the friends that Beth has.
Angie also got ahold of almost the same thing for her upcoming birthday last night, too. Only difference is that instead of a necklace for little girls, she got a John Deere tractor. Beth and Angie decided to read their gay porn magazines. I felt sorry for poor Shane, because there was little that he could do at the time.
What amazed me was the amount of surprise expressed at certain parts of these magazines. Yes, some of it was utterly rediculous, but other parts didn’t seem that strange to me. There is, of course, the fact that it’s coming from porn, so no matter what there will be a degree of strangeness that simply cannot be taken away from it, but barring that, some of it didn’t seem that strange. I guess I found it interesting that I can know all of these things about how they have sex, but there seemed to be some general confusion as to the opposite kind of sex.
This confusion did not so much seem to be confusion in the mechanical or operational sense, but confusion as to if something should be funn, creepy, or dismissed as natural. This has happened when porn of the gay variety has come on over there before. Sometimes it’s, “Oh my God!” as if what’s happening is some kind of eye opener; and sometimes the response is, “Heehee!” and general giggling, because, as we all know, porn is funny in groups.
It’s hard to make a real judgement in this sort of situation because porn in groups is funny. Furthermore, whenever something is trying to be “hot,” it comes off as cheesy. It’s like a rule of pornography or something. After all, drama and language aren’t really the strong points of that entertainment genre.
I got back my papers for the semester. I got “A’s” on both of them. The anime one went really well. Other than a few really minor errors, most of the pages were lined with “good,” “nice,” and “interesting.” The Spanish one had more serious language problems because I never fully proofread it, but only a few sentences that really should have been rearranged or were awkward. At the end of the Spanish paper, he suggested I read a book to help improve my writing style. It seems that, between the two papers, he really wants me to continue to develop as a writer. That made me feel good.
Last night was also my possibly last night with my physics tutor. What I’m excited for is the end of physics lecture (in 90 minutes), not tutoring. Tutoring, for me, has been a wonderful chance to get to actually talk about physics with someone that can answer my questions and is interested to. Sometimes I don’t have questions, but I get to learn the interesting bits to what is presented in class. I’m going to miss that, but I will not be missing the torture that is physics or Art Meyers.

Its not really that we dont understand.. I understand how it works (though I have no desire to ever experiance it). Its just so strange to see pictures and articles about it. And with all the hype about AIDs, HIV, STDs, and all that, some of the articles were just unbelievable. Besides, the magazine I got was full of interviews of Gay Porn stars. I dont watch Gay Porn, so I dont know any of these people. Ang’s was much more entertaining.
