Kerblaaam!

It’s over! I’m finally done with this semester. I got an A in software engineering, so I didn’t have to take the final. That was exciting. The discrete math final was a mixed bag. I’ll just have to see how I did. The average on the speech final was pretty bad, but I’m not worried about my grade in there. I mean, it’s speech.

After the discrete math final we went to celebrate. How did we do this? We went to the memorial union to get lunch! Of course, while we were hoping to get the meals for $3.30 (hence, Computer Science 330), we got Chinese instead. Mmm. Afterwards, we said our goodbyes to Mike. He’s leaving for a junior college back home in California, and then to one of the UC’s next year.

Luke’s mom is going to get a kitten for Christmas, so we went kitty shopping too. The only pet store that we knew of in town was the Ark, which didn’t have them. He suggested that we go to the College of Veterinary Medicine, since they had just operated on some cats (free spay and declawing). We went there, and it was a difficult journey. First of all, the place is like the Pentagon meets some kind of fucked up hospital. It’s way easy to get lost in there. However this really, really nice lady helped us around until we found who had the cats that could be adopted. Then another really, really nice lady let us look at the kittens and told us how to get them adopted.

Luke, a dog person, fell in love with the first kitten that he was handed. I guess this is the one that his mom is getting. Don’t get me wrong, this kitten is way cute; but then again, it’s a kitten, how could it not be way cute? We tried to adopt the animal from the Ames Animal Shelter, because we thought it was the Story County Animal Shelter. Oops. We ran out of time because of this. So tomorrow, Luke is going to adopt a cute, cuddley, little kitten.

When I got home, I worked on some basic scripting for my web site. I’ve got some ideas in the works. However, when MySQL was being a complete bitch at me, I decided that I should just store information in XML files. Of course, I had forgotten that parsing XML confuses me in PHP. So I guess we’ll see if anything comes of my ideas.

I’m on Christmas break, and that rocks.
