And the Results Are…?

Now Listening to: Love
Yoko Kanno, Escaflowne Original Soundtrack 2

I had my physics exam tonight, and it actually seemed to go alright! I fucked up the second problem, which I can’t believe I did, but almost everything I got was an option for the test so I feel alright about it at the moment. We’ll see later. I’m just very glad to have this exam out of the way. It ets me more familiar with the procedures of the class, and how to take exams for the class.

Tomorrow holds lunch with Beth, a haircut, discrete math homework, a physics postlab, and a physics prelab for me. Possibly an Alliance meeting, because this guy that Dustin told me to talk to wants to go. If I finish everything else up all early, then I’ll go. It seems that they’ve done dramatic restructuring over the summer. There are lots of subgroups now, so I’d be interested to see it one way or the other.

On a less chronological note, I whored myself off at the career fair again today. Such things can be exhausting for some reason. I really think that it’s more of a combination of the large amounts of studying and the career fairs, rather than just the career fairs. Studying seems to take a lot out of me physically.

Bomb Threat

Tuesday, September 24th, 2002

Today at the end of class for software engineering the fire alarm went off in Gilman. It took the fire trucks a very long time to get there, which made Beth wonder if the alarm wasn’t planned. I have no idea, but I went to the [attached] Physics Hall, where, instead of making fire, we calclulate stuff.

After lunch I headed to the library to do studying for physics. I went in and was checking my e-mail and doing all of the pre-studying stuff that I could, when some kid walked in and said, “They’re evacuating the building, so you might want to leave.” I got my stuff and started to leave. On the way down the stairs police officers told everyone to get their things, hurry up, and get out of the building. Apparently there was a bomb threat made on Parks Library.

The entire library got surrounded by police lines; or at least the entrance and exits did. It was an impressive amount of police line. So I sat on the library lawn on the west side of campus and read most of the last physics chapter on the exam tomorrow. It was good times.

Shortly after that, I met up with Beth, who was paneling to the computer science 101 class, in Lagomarcino. We went to the engineering career fair to whore ourselves off for jobs. I returned to campus at about six and studied physics until nine. I can now do everything except inclined plane and tension problems. I’m hoping to master them tomorrow.

After that, I went over to Atanasoff to work on my homework regarding Concurrent Versioning System (CVS). At one point I had waited five minutes, because this twit had a lock on one of the files forever. After doing som UNIX investigating research, and imploring my mad UNIX skillz (including, but not limited to grep); I realized who the problem, got the process ID, and this person’s location on campus. I headed over to Durham to make this person kill the process, and I couldn’t find them. When I returned, everything worked anyway.

It’s clearly been a crazy day.
