The Final Stretch

Thursday, May 30th, 2002

Tomorrow is prom. I’m vaguely concerned that things won’t go well for some unforseen reason. I need to sneak Christmas lights out of the house, which may prove difficult. A ladder, too. The ladder might not fit in the car, so I may end up just standing on tables to decorate the ceiling.

I’ve bought all of the door prizes, except for the potential Easy Bake Oven. Most of them are silly, but if they wanted more serious stuff, they should have asked someone else to do the whole thing. That, and I went shopping with Beth et. al, so that just amplified the crazy prizes.

I think i’m excited for prom. If not, I’m excited for it to be done. Once it’s done, I have the film festival, and then I’m free of planning events for at least a little while. That should give me enough free time to get other things done in my life. I’ve worked until 10pm recently, so life has been hectic. Lunch hours have been spent planning, after work has been shopping time, etc.

Added note: No Mardi Gras beads, because it would cost $45 to get 100 of them, and I only have $20 left.

Graduation

Final Fantasy X, Piano Collections

Graduation was today. Thank goodness it’s over. My mom woke me up at 9 am this morning to go paint part of the house. It’s the day of the event, and I’m painting the house? That was rediculous. I yelled at her for it. It was wrong if me, I was being a bitch. I should apologize later.

The ceremony itself wasn’t bad. I even looked at Josh when he walked by and gave him a large smile, as to let him know that I was proud of him. I wasn’t particularly proud of myself to graduate from high school, but this may be the only time that Josh finishes an education. He’s going to DMACC next year, but I would have to have missed the opportunity to let him know that I didn’t think his hard work (and he did work really hard this year) wasn’t noticed.

The reception was good and bad. It was nice to see everyone, but at the same time I was filling food for 75% of the reception. I had fun with the wives, though. Good times. Mrs. Janson showed up at the reception, too. Her and grandma hit it off instantly. Janson loved it that grandma’s 75 and still wears make up and newer clothes. It was the most hilarious thing ever,

I think I’m going to give Dean a call and see if he wants to go look at decorations at Wal-Mart for prom. We need to go to Paper Warehouse for a lot of them, but it would be nice to get some of the basics (streamers, etc.) out of the way. I work Monday through Wednesday this week, and prom is in Friday, so I’m pretty much screwed. Thursday I’m going to be running around picking up prizes and buying decorations. Eep.
